This ex-designer lace border comes from Forster Rohner, one of the oldest manufactures of lace. It is a guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on the original machines. The design features a looped cord linked with the characteristic plaits. This border is super luxurious and has a beautiful satin finish. Would make a stunning addition to any garment, but could also be used for furnishings!
